4/10/2023 0 Comments Dtmf ivrDTMF stands for 'Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency': two-tone tones used for dialing phones. The LTE,VoLTE setting allows you enable or disable the ability to make voice calls and still use Mobile Data simultaneously but a side effect has probably aided you which is great. Sends a signal through the DTMF interface, allowing users to use the telephone numeric keypad to perform some action during the telephone call. In some situations, the DTMF tone may not be recognized and the IVR options may not get selected properly, even when the correct key on the phone keypad is. Oh and as an aside, "LTE,VoLTE Off" makes no difference to the time the tone is transmitted that I can tell. So that means that there are systems out there that require a longer tone length and for that reason I believe that the length of time you press the button should result in the tones being transmitted for that same length of time rather than being hard coded to be limited to 0.5 of a second. Despite the iPhone earpiece feedback seeming to indicate a very short tone when you press a number key on your iPhone, the reality is that the length of the tone that actually goes to line is in fact close to 0.5 of a second which I would have thought would be adequate. When the calls are connected, the external Payment IVR sends a chirp out which is about a 1/2 delay which i will just use the pause. In other words, the IVR is only able to understand one digit & if there is more than one digit dialed by the caller, the call drops. if the caller enters 291 although the 'Direct Dial' option is enabled, the call is not passed to CUCM. The resultant tone is what is detected by the receiving end. The above works fine if the caller enters only one digit, and in my case, this is 0 which works correctly. As a matter of interest I did a test by calling another phone nearby and then listening to that phone while I pressed various numbers on the iPhone. DTMF tones are the result of of two tones played simultaneously the result is a harmonic or compilation of the two.
